welcome

I’m Kate foster

My goal is to create education, awareness, and knowledge around mental health for our children and young people, particularly around breaking down stigmas about accessing support for mental health.

My other passions is to create awareness, knowledge, and practice around mindfulness. The research and evidence show that it’s incredibly good for our mental health and well-being.

I would LOVE to see mindfulness in homes, schools, and workplaces!

My philosophy as a counselor, is to come from a strength-based approach, you are the expert on you, so I listen, offer guidance, and offer a safe space to unpack what’s going on.

I also have a particular interest in supporting children and young people experiencing anxiety

Kate is very professional but also has the mother feel to her counselling. She is very gentle and kind. Supportive of both myself and my child’s feelings and emotions.

She gives great tools to help support your child, strategies to get them though when they aren’t coping. Kate explains why and what is happening to cause the feelings that the child is experiencing.
Kate is a great listener and very patient!”

a passion for mindfulness

My Story

My background is in early childhood education and care and after I had my babies I thought it would be a great idea to study...!?!

After a VERY long time, and many sacrifices, I gained my Bachelor of Social Science (with a double major in Children & Family Studies, and Psychology).

I then joined Ngala’s Geraldton Family Counselling Service. I loved working in this role, and learned so much, working with children, young people, and adults.

My philosophy is to come from a strength-based approach, you are the expert on you, so I listen, offer guidance, and offer a safe space to unpack what’s going on.

I also have a particular interest in supporting children and young people experiencing anxiety

One of my big goals is to create education, awareness, and knowledge around mental health for our children and young people, and particularly around breaking down stigmas about accessing support for mental health.

A couple of fun facts about me

I was born on April the 1st, Aprils Fools baby! I think that’s why I have a very silly sense of humour

I’m a huge Dolly Parton fan and know ALL the words to 9-5

I’m one of ‘those’ plant ladies, I have way too many plants, who doesn’t love a replica jungle in their house??!!
