How To Become Unsquished
'Squished'
This is my term that I use, when I feel like there is A LOT going on!
We are all so 'busy' now, busy with kids, busy with work, busy trying to catch up with friends, busy planning the next thing, busy 'Doing'.
Through Mindfulness, I've learned to recognise when I'm feeling too busy - 'squished', there is too much on, needing my attention.
That's the first part - recognising and realising, this doesn't feel good, too much!
Then I've learned to 'unsquish' (I'm sure that's a real word 😂😜).
So how do you 'unsquish?' Here is my list -
1. As I've said above, recognising that feeling, too much going on. We are often on Autopilot, so will keep going and going. When we stop and reflect, take a breath, and realise, whoa! Something needs to give.
2. Let go of what doesn't need to be done. If the week is hectic, it's ok to have toasties for dinner or put the washing in the dryer. If it gives you some 'unsquished' room then that's great!
3. Prioritise filling your own cup. That saying of 'we cannot pour from an empty cup' is so true. Today I had a million things to complete but made the time to have coffee with a beautiful friend. Everything else will still get done (or it may not, and that's ok), but I'll feel better about it. If you need to take a 30-minute walk around the block with the music cranked DO IT!
4. Ask for, and ACCEPT help. We are not so good at this sometimes. If it helps to get someone else to pick the kids up from school, then ask. If you need to take a day off work, just because, then take it off.
Take a challenge this week - becoming more 'unsquished'! 😘
P.S love the above dog pic I found when I Googled squished 😂😍💕
